When and why did you decide to work in the optometric field?

I always wanted to do smoothing in the medical field because I love helping people. I started off as a Medical Assistant, soon I found out that was not my passion and decided to become a receptionist for an optometry office. To my surprise I fell in love with Optometry and started to work myself up to the position where I am currently. Optometry has given me the opportunity to help, people in a way that I never imagined.

What do you enjoy about optometry? What do you enjoy in your current job?

I enjoy that optometry involves a great deal of problem solving and critical thing for each patient! I love helping my patient when it comes to choosing the right eyewear for the. I enjoy hearing patient satisfaction when I recommend the product that they pick up.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy remodeling and home decor and doing a lot of DYI home projects.

What food do you like?

I enjoy pretty much any type of food!

What do you like to do on your days off? With Family? Where do plan for your next vacation?

On my days off I enjoy spending time with my family, planned fun outings for the family to have fun! Hopefully soon we can plan to go on a family vacation to Bora Bora.

How has this world pandemic affected you, how have you been coping and live with it?

It has been hard for me and my family, and it does take some getting used to. However, I believe we can overcome this great challenge to our world, and I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

When and why did you decide to work in the optometric field?

In 2015, I decided to work in Optometry to make a difference in my community and help people see. I love to be able to give the gift of sight.

Where did you go (or am going) for your High school? College?

I attended both Pete Knight and Palmdale High School.

I graduated from SJVC San Joaquin Valley College with my AA in Science and certificate for medical billing and coding.

What are your hobbies?

I like going hiking.

What sport team(s) do you enjoy watching?

Dodgers

What movie or genre do you enjoy watching?

Comedy is my favorite, but Lion King is my all-time favorite movie.

What food do you like?

I love spicy food (hot Cheetos and Thai food)

What do you like to do on your days off? With Family? Where do plan for your next vacation?

On my days off, I like to go on hikes with family or have movie nights.

How has this world pandemic affected you, how have you been coping and live with it?

The world Pandemic flipped everyone’s world upside down. I try to just think of this being the new normal to cope.

When and why did you decide to work in the optometric field?

I started at AV Family Optometry as a high school intern back in 2014 for about a year and have worked as an employee ever since. I enjoy working in Optometry because it allows me to help patients regain their most valuable sense: VISION. It’s always great to see patients’ big smile when they first put on their glasses or contacts!

Where did you go (or am going) for your High school? College?

I am a graduate from Highland HS and Antelope Valley College.

What do you like to do on your days off? With Family? Where do plan for your next vacation?

I enjoy spending my free time visiting new places, going to church, anything outdoors, and overall just learning new things. Vacationing with the family is one of my favorite things to do since I have a lot of younger cousins, it’s never a dull moment!

Any favorite last words, advice, quotes of wisdom?

Enjoy the journey we call “Life” because we only have one!

When any why did you decide to work in the Optometric field?

As a kid I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. Having the ability to help someone feel better has always been one of my passions. I have tried a little of everything including, physical therapy, intensive care, and even emergency medicine. While I have enjoyed all of these very much, I have always been drawn back to the field of optometry. I find immense satisfaction and happiness in helping someone see better. One of my life goals right now is to eventually graduate optometry school and become an optometrist, so I can continue to help people see.

What do you enjoy about optometry? What do you enjoy about your current job?

I personally really like optometry because there are so many different aspects to this field. We have the medical side which helps patient see better, but we also have the fashion side, where patients can select a frame, and enjoy the way it looks on them. I really enjoy my current job because it gives me the opportunity to interact with my community and help them gain better vision.

Where did you go for your high school? College?

I was born and raised in Palmdale, CA. Here I attended Palmdale High School, where I graduated top of my class. I then completed my undergrad at the University of California, San Diego, where I graduated with a bachelor’s in public health. I plan to attend Optometry school sometime in the near future.

What are my hobbies?

On my free time I enjoy, hiking, biking, watching movies, and playing video games

What sport teams do you enjoy watching?

I grew up watching sports especially baseball so the Dodgers have a special place in my heart, however I always enjoy watching the Lakers, and the Clippers

What movie? Or genre? Do you enjoy watching?

Movies are an essential part in my life, I am big fan of action and sci-fi. One of my all-time favorite movies is Star Wars: A New Hope

What food do you like?

I enjoy all type of foods, especially from different cultures, I am always eager to try something new.

How has this world pandemic affected you? How have you been coping and living with it?

Never in my life have I imagined myself living through a global pandemic, however these are strange times we live in. While I am grateful that I have a job and still has the ability to help people, this pandemic had definitely taken a toll to my mental health. It has been challenging not able to go out and enjoy the little things in life, however if we all follow the necessary protocols, I believe we can overcome this great challenge and go back to a time of normality.

When and why did you decide to work in the Optometric field?

I have worn glasses since I was in kindergarten and always enjoyed getting my eyes checked. During college, I decided it was something that I was interested in along with nursing. I wanted to learn more about Optometry, so I decided to come back to the place I interned at in high school to further my knowledge.

What do you enjoy about Optometry? What do you enjoy in your current job?

I enjoy getting to meet new people and looking at what Optometry has to offer as far as the different instruments we use, the different lenses available, the technology behind lenses, and the wide variety of brands and frames available. I really enjoy helping pateints and spending time with my coworkers because everyone is very welcoming and helpful.

Where did you go (or am going) for your high school? college?

I went to Palmdale High School and UCLA.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy hiking and creating different crafts such as vinyl decals and customized cups.

What sport team(s) do you enjoy watching?

I don’t really watch sports, but I should start.

What movie or genre do you enjoy watching?

I enjoy comedies and romantic movies, but Ford vs. Ferrari and Titanic are my top two.

What food do you like?

I enjoy anything related to pasta.

What do you like to do on your days off? With family? Where do you plan for your next vacation?

On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and significant other, watching popular Netflix series, and helping my sister with our little craft projects. I would love to go on a huge family vacation to Cancun and stay there for at least a week.

How has this world pandemic affected you, how have you been coping and live with it?

This pandemic has affected me by ending my college experience early, but it has also allowed me to spend much more time with my family. I try to cope with the pandemic by establishing a routine and keeping myself busy.

In the end, we only regret the changes we didn’t take.
